Matrices whose powers approximate the identity
In this paper we characterize the matrices A with the following property: for each ε > 0 there exists k ∈ N such that ‖Ak − I‖ < ε for a given matrix norm. This characterization is applied to the theory of unitary, hermitian nonnegative, positive and stochastic matrices.
متن کاملNoncirculant Toeplitz Matrices All of Whose Powers Are Toeplitz
Let a, b and c be fixed complex numbers. Let Mn(a, b, c) be the n×n Toeplitz matrix all of whose entries above the diagonal are a, all of whose entries below the diagonal are b, and all of whose entries on the diagonal are c. For 1 6 k 6 n, each k × k principal minor of Mn(a, b, c) has the same value. We find explicit and recursive formulae for the principal minors and the characteristic polyno...
متن کاملOn the powers of fuzzy neutrosophic soft matrices
In this paper, The powers of fuzzy neutrosophic soft square matrices (FNSSMs) under the operations $oplus(=max)$ and $otimes(=min)$ are studied. We show that the powers of a given FNSM stabilize if and only if its orbits stabilize for each starting fuzzy neutrosophic soft vector (FNSV) and prove a necessary and sufficient condition for this property using the associated graphs of the FNSM. ...
متن کاملCirculant weighing matrices whose order and weight are products of powers of 2 and 3
We classify all circulant weighing matrices whose order and weight are products of powers of 2 and 3. In particular, we show that proper CW(v, 36)’s exist for all v ≡ 0 (mod 48), all of which are new.
متن کاملPowers of Ray Pattern Matrices
We examine the similarities and differences between results for powers of sign pattern matrices and for powers of ray pattern matrices. In particular, we investigate what is known about k-potent patterns and powerful patterns in both the irreducible and reducible cases. 1 Signs, Rays, Sign & Ray Patterns Since at least the 1960’s, the qualitative theory of real matrices has been an extremely fr...
